Here's 27 of the dvds, I left 3 out due to being duplicates. Plus, I couldn't fit them in that container anyway. |
NEW TO ME
Ah, My Goddess vol. 4:
This is a series I've been meaning to watch. Sadly, I'll have to buy the first 3 before I can watch this one, but it seems cheap enough as it is, so it shouldn't be a problem.
Babel II vol. 1 & 4:
I think I may have heard of this one when I was younger, but it doesn't ring many bells. Looks like a standard 90's-early 2000's action type anime. Don't know if I will buy the rest of the series, will have to watch volume one to find out.
Space Pirate Captain Harlock vol. 1:
This is a classic, and I'm happy that I received this. I have a thing for 80's anime, so this is a welcome edition to my collection. Unfortunately, with how many episodes there are, it might just be cheaper for me to buy a box set of it instead of buying the volumes individually.
Doggie Poo:
Ah, Doggie Poo....when I first got on-demand from my cable provider many years back, they had an anime section, and this one among them. I remember watching it just for the lulz because of the name and the description. I didn't know it was Korean, however. I'll rewatch it at least once to refresh my brain, but I don't remember it being too impressive. I mean...it's a story about a piece of dog shit that wants to find its purpose in life. What more is there to say?
Doki Doki School Hours vol. 1:
I've vaguely heard of this one. Unfortunately, this is the sequel, from what I understand. I don't know if I'll be missing out on anything if I watch this before the first series, but to be honest, I'm not sure if I'll like it anyway. But, at least it is volume 1, and I'm always willing to try something new.
Dokkoida!? vol. 1:
Another one that I've been meaning to watch. I've heard it's hilarious. It was on Netflix at one point in time, I believe, but they took it off before I got the chance to watch. Most likely will be another one that I buy the rest of.
Genma Wars: Eve of Mythology vol. 1:
Another one I have no clue about. I think I may have heard or read the name in passing before, but never knew about it until now. It looks fairly interesting. Despite being a 2002 anime, it has a similar art style to several 80's-90's shows, so that's a plus for me. May or may not finish this one out.
Gunparade March vol. 1:
Also another I've not heard of. I'm surprised by how many things I'm getting in these boxes that I've never heard of, which is honestly great, in my opinion. It's an opportunity to learn about something new that I haven't had years to form any opinion about (or had years to hear everyone else form opinions about and be driven away by the fanboys/fangirls a la Naruto/Bleach/etc). This one seems to be a standard action/mech type anime. It looks fairly promising, despite bad reviews I've seen while searching the title.
Hades Project Zeorymer vol. 1:
This is one of the few that very much caught my eye. It's not something I've heard of, but it's got that distinct late 80's-early 90's feel to it that I love. I'll probably buy the second dvd of it before I even watch it, to be honest. It's so cheap that I may as well, that way I can finish it out pretty quickly. I don't know how good the plot and whatnot will be, but I'm a sucker for art styles like this.
Heat Guy J 3-pack (vol. 1-3):
This is a nice one. I already have volume one of this from the previous box I got, and to be honest I haven't watched it yet, but I have planned to. Looks fairly interesting, and it's neat that this little set comes in a nice plastic sleeve with art on it. It's not the most sturdy thing ever, but it does make the set look nice. I believe there's 3 more volumes, so I will likely pick them up, as I think I will enjoy this show.
Kujibiki Unbalance vol. 3:
Apparently this is the last volume of the show, so I'm kinda screwed. Volumes one and two are quite cheap on Amazon though, so I may as well pick them up. Each one includes a Genshiken OVA as well, which I find neat.
Licensed By Royalty vol. 1:
This one looks quite interesting, has a James Bond sorta feel to it almost. Haven't looked at prices for the other volumes yet, but given that it's in this box, it's probably fairly cheap. Will have to check it out first before deciding whether to finish it out or not.
Midori Days vol. 1:
Another one I've heard of, but I've never really felt much interest towards it. It's about a guy who suddenly has a girl for a hand....yeah, where could that go wrong? (Brain, stahp! Get out of the gutter!) I've not heard many opinions about this, so I'm not sure whether it's any good or not. Only one way to find out, I suppose...
Otoboku vol. 3:
This is one that I actually almost bought from Rightstuf, since all 3 dvds are like $10 or so on their site. I haven't looked into the plot a whole lot other than that it's about a guy crossdressing to get into an all-girls school and "yuri" ensues. Being the yuri-fiend I am, I've had my eye on this one for awhile. This is the last dvd, and it includes the OVA apparently as well, so I'll pick up volumes one and two probably in a few weeks so I can watch this one. <3
Moribito vol. 2:
I've heard a lot of good things about this show. Apparently it was on Adult Swim at one point in time, but I missed out on it. I like the cases they use for this, it's like an oversized cd case. I'm really jealous of other boxes I've seen (I always watch unboxing videos when these boxes come out to see what other people get), because there's one in particular that has around 7 or so volumes of this in it. Lucky! As with the others, these are fairly cheap on Amazon, so I'll be picking up the rest.
Sadamitsu the Destroyer vol. 1:
Looks like another standard action/sci-fi/mech type anime. For some reason the cover reminds me of Android Kikaider, but I doubt it's anything alike. Fairly neutral on the interest scale.
Samurai Deeper Kyo vol. 6:
Figures I'd get the last volume of this...I've always been into animes about Feudal Japan, so I'm sure I'll enjoy this one...just gotta buy the first five volumes first. >.<
Seven of Seven vol. 1 & 2:
Looks like a cutesy magical girl type of show, which as most of my friends know is one of my favorite genres. Likely will wind up picking up the rest of this, I think there's only one more volume anyway.
Shrine of the Morning Mist vol. 3:
And ANOTHER final volume! I wasn't sure what this was because of the name, but the girl on the cover looked familiar. Upon searching Myanimelist for it, I found out I have heard of this one (Asagiri no Miko), and have been meaning to watch it as it was. So volumes one and two will be bought and watched.
Shura no Toki vol. 5:
Another samurai style anime. No clue about the plot, I didn't read it. The art style looks okay, and this is probably one of the last volumes. Will probably pick up the previous ones at a later date.
The Soultaker vol. 3:
This is one that I was actually planning on picking up soon anyway. I think there's only four volumes, so I just need to pick them up. It came with a neat glow-in-the-dark clear cling sticker thing (the type that uses static electricity to hold onto glass rather than adhesive), which I had trouble getting to stick to my door (I ended up wetting it and it stayed that way, thankfully), but it looks neat. I love when dvds come with little extras like that. I've been wanting to see this show for a long time, as I remember seeing a preview on a vhs I rented from Blockbuster back when I was young. Kickass theme song too!
Tweeny Witches vol. 3:
Final volume of this, so I'll have to buy one and two. This is one that I've also been meaning to pick up. It has a very childish title, but apparently is a pretty mature magical girl anime, so I've been quite interested.
Ys vol. 2:
I know jack shit about the plot of this, but the fact that it's based off of an RPG series and has an interesting art style has piqued my interest many times before. How do you pronounce this anyway? Whys? Why-Ess? Is? I don't know. It looked fairly interesting, and I'm only missing two volumes, so may as well pick them up.
DUPES
Dragon Hunters vol. 1:
This is the third time I've gotten this. (First time from the previous CR Mystery Box, and second time from a $1 Rightstuf blind box.) I have volumes one, three, and five of this show, five being the last volume. I'm not sure how interested I am in it. It's actually a French cartoon, not an anime. Will probably buy two and four just for completion sake and watch it once before selling.
Viewtiful Joe vol. 1:
Got this in the previous CR box as well. I was a bit iffy about the game as it was, so I don't know if I'll like this. Plus, there's quite a few episodes, so there's likely a lot of volumes. I'll probably just pass on this one entirely.
Zi Pang vol. 1:
Just like Dragon Hunters, this is the third time I've gotten this one, from the CR box and a $1 RS box. Personally, it doesn't interest me, never looked at how many episodes there are, but I will likely pass on this one too.
And there's the full list, ladies and gentlemen. I've watched several other people's unboxings, and have to say that mine seems to be the most lackluster of them so far, but overall, I think it was money well spent. Also, I've noticed that there seem to be only a few variations of the boxes. One Youtuber has the same exact box as I do, and two videos I watched had the same box as each other. So the randomness of this seems pretty....not random. :\ If they post another later on in the year, I may pass. Depends on the money situation, I don't know if I will get anything worth while if I buy another one. Would probably be better off spending that money on one of the $25 Rightstuf blind boxes and likely getting a full series. I enjoy these as a bit of filler to my collection, but I don't agree with them lying about the value and claiming the boxes are completely random when they are just the same few boxes. The only thing I really enjoy about this is how many older animes or lesser known ones are in these, since I enjoy finding ones that I've not heard of, but I could see why other people wouldn't like that. It's really a hit or miss sorta thing. I think I'll only buy these boxes again if I have the money to spare to do so and don't have anything else I'm interested in buying at the time. Other than that, I might be done with the big boxes. I'd have done a video unboxing, but I don't have a very good camera to do so with and it's usually pretty loud in my house, but possibly in the future I will do video instead of a lengthy blog post about them. Hope you enjoyed reading my reactions to this box, thanks for reading~ :)
